Betal leaf also know as “Paan”, mostly is consumed in Asia. Just as milk rice and oil cake (kevum), the betel leaf has a major role in the Sinhala & Tamil new year. The betel leaf is respected, offered, received and also chewed with Areca nut, Chunam or tobacco.
Later in the evening, we will travel to the village close by & get to know the local populace. Visit a house and have some evening tea and watch children fly kites in the paddy fields. Nothing like a village evening away from the hustle & bustle of the city.
